This course will introduce you to the wide ranging presentations of autism and explore the implications for your practice focusing on the following key areas:

  • Presentation in females
  • ASC or Compromised Attachment?

I found this course really useful especially in explaining how to distinguish between ASC and compromised attachment. I really liked the visuals, videos and auditory clips used to support the learning.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course. It was really well written, interesting to read and accessible. There was not one section I found difficult to navigate or read. I enjoyed the mixture of visuals too, particularly the egg box, interspersed with videos in manageable chunks that were precise and encapsulated the topic. I think one and half hours to complete the course was optimistic. I wanted to take notes and so this took a lot longer but worth it. I have gained valuable information and the course has made me think much more deeply about the children I work with who have been diagnosed with or are currently awaiting diagnoses for autism as well as those children who may be displaying some traits typical of ASD but who are possibly more likely to have Comprised Attachment. I welcomed the section on autism in females. Definitely worth doing!

I was intrigued by this course as it looked at autism from a different angle and more in line with my work in child protection. Was not disappointed. Really learnt a lot and especially got me thinking about attachment and autism and how to tease it all out. Feel more informed about autism in females too. Have sat through dull online presentations over the lockdown but really enjoyed the different ways information was provided and the interactive lessons made you think. Have already recommended it to others.
